GOMEL, 26 May (BelTA) – Gomel Oblast and Russia's Altai Krai intend to expand inter-regional cooperation. This topic was in focus of the meeting between Gomel Oblast Governor Ivan Krupko and Altai Krai Governor Viktor Tomenko, BelTA learned from the executive committee.
The meeting took place in Gomel on 26 May. Gomel Oblast Governor Ivan Krupko believes there is a lot of potential for bilateral cooperation. The Russian governor was keenly interested in the capacities and resources of the southeastern region of Belarus, including tourism and a number of other areas.
The governors explored the possibilities of stepping up inter-regional cooperation. “Our regions will continue building contacts on the basis of friendship and mutual understanding,” Ivan Krupko is confident.
The Belarusian governor invited the delegation from Altai Krai to visit Gomel during Independence Day. Ivan Krupko presented Viktor Tomenko with a memorial sign “80 years of liberation of Gomel Oblast”.
