MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – In the first quarter of 2022 foreign direct investment in Belarus was the biggest in nine years, Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“In the first quarter of this year, despite everything that has happened and is happening in the world, Belarus posted the biggest foreign direct investment on a net basis in the last nine years. These were mostly reinvested revenues of foreign entities that have operations in Belarus. This means that that they do not withdraw their money, although they can as we did not impose restrictions on the withdrawal of capital, like Russia did. We did not introduce any prohibitive measures on the transfer of money abroad. Yet, companies did not withdraw their profits, they reinvested them. It seems to me that this is quite indicative,” Roman Golovchenko said.
The prime minister emphasized that Belarus continues to improve special tax regimes for foreign investors.
