German Thyssen Schachtbau to make hoisting plants for second Belarusian potash mine

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) – The German company Thyssen Schachtbau has signed a contract to make hoisting plants for IOOO Slavkaliy, the press service of the Belarusian company told BelTA.

IOOO Slavkaliy is busy building the Nezhinsky mining and processing factory, which will require four hoisting plants. One of them will be used to lift people and cargoes in the cage shaft. Another one will be used as backup. The other two will be installed in the skip shaft to extract ore. The hoisting machines will be delivered to the construction site to be assembled on site. The first shipment is supposed to be delivered in mid-2020.

The Nezhinsky mining and processing factory based on the Starobinskoye potash salts deposit will be the second company in Belarus to mine potash salts and make potash fertilizers. It will be able to make up to 2 million tonnes of potassium chloride per annum.

The investment project provides for building one mining facility in addition to a processing plant, a gas turbine power plant for proprietary needs, railway infrastructure, access roads, housing infrastructure, and other kinds. IOOO Slavkaliy is in charge of implementing the project. The company is part of Mikhail Gutseriyev's Safmar Group.
