MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – In 2020 the output of the Belarusian food industry rose by 2.9% year-on-year, BelTA learned from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
“In 2020, the production of meat and meat products increased by 3.4%, including that of sausages by 1.9%. The output of dairy products expanded by 6% last year, including that of whole milk products by 5.4%, butter by 3.4%, cheeses (except cheese spreads) by 11.1%, cottage cheese and curd products by 5.7%, milk powder and cream by 5.7%, condensed milk and cream by 20.6%,” the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry informed.
According to the press service, the financial performance of agricultural companies keeps improving. In January-November 2020 sales revenues rose by 14.2% compared with the same period of 2019. The profit of sales grew by 17.6%; the return on sales amounted to 5.7%, as against 5.6% in January-November 2019. The number of loss-making companies went down from 184 at the beginning of 2020 to 103 as of 1 December due to the undertaken financial recovery measures.
