MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) - Belarus must maximize the potential of its overseas product distribution network, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov stated during a meeting between the Belarusian president and heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices in Minsk on 31 July, BelTA learned.
“To successfully boost our exports, we must focus on establishing new export products, which requires assembly plants, joint ventures, and service and logistics infrastructure with proper product lineups,” the minister emphasized. “However, we still need to tap into the existing distribution network abroad that was developed with Belarusian capital.”

Maksim Ryzhenkov cited some figures: “Of 159 Belarus-owned distribution entities, 42 in Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Uzbekistan reduced shipments last year. Seventy-two entities remain virtually inactive. Among 15 enterprises in far-abroad countries, only a few operate - notably MAZ in Vietnam and Savushkin Product in China.”
The minister expressed disappointment with stalled assembly plant projects approved by the Industry Ministry for Algeria, Egypt, India, China, Mongolia, Vietnam and Latin America.
“The government's program includes developing financing mechanisms for overseas ventures using over 50% Belarusian materials, plus social and infrastructure projects,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said.
“While support mechanisms exist, progress remains sluggish,” the minister added.
