Five companies from Asia, Europe bid to build nitrogen complex in Grodno

GRODNO, 20 September (BelTA) – Companies from China, Korea, and Europe have submitted their bids for the tender to build a new nitrogen complex in Grodno, BelTA learned from Director General of OAO Grodno Azot Igor Bobyr on 20 September.

The matter was discussed during the working trip of Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas to Grodno Oblast on 20 September. While on a tour of OAO Grodno Azot the prime minister was informed about the company's financial performance and progress in implementing investment projects. The construction of a new facility to make nitrogen fertilizers with the output capacity of over 1.25 million tonnes per annum is the largest one of them.

“The general contractor is being selected now. Bids from five companies have been submitted for the tender. Three of them represent China, one Europe, and another one Korea. Technical aspects and financial matters are being discussed now,” Igor Bobyr said. Specialists of the companies specializing in this sphere have been invited to analyze the bids.

The general contractor is supposed to be chosen before the end of 2019. The contract is supposed to be signed in 2020. Financing will become available and the blueprints will be worked out. The complex is supposed to be commissioned in 2025.

The head of government is expected to participate in a festive event timed to the 75th anniversary of Grodno Oblast's foundation.
