First grass cut on 87.3% of area in Belarus

MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – First grass has been cut on 87.3% of the designated area in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

First grass was cut on the area of 1,226,500 hectares (87.3%) and removed from the area of 1,131,400 hectares, which is 92.2% of the grass cut. Second grass was cut on the area of 71,600 hectares and removed from the area of 47,000 hectares, which is 65.7% of the grass cut.

Belarus harvested 6,393,200 tonnes of haylage (48%), 106,200 tonnes of hay (15.2%),  and 210,800 tonnes of silage (1.03%).

There are plans to harvest over 9.8 million tonnes of grass fodder this year; at the moment 19.3% of the plan has been fulfilled. There are plans to procure over 20.5 million tonnes of silage, 13.3 million tonnes of haylage, and 700,400 tonnes of hay.
