FEZ Grodnoinvest seeking Turkish investments

GRODNO, 28 November (BelTA) – The free economic zone Grodnoinvest is expecting Turkish investments in the production of automobile components, transport logistics and tourism, BelTA learned from Deputy Head of the Grodnoinvest administration Dmitry Rozhkov.

An agreement with the Turkish side has been reached to set up a special zone for Turkish investments. The Turkish Economy Ministry expressed its interest in the zone at a meeting of technical delegations of the two countries in Ankara.

According to Dmitry Rozhkov, Grodnoinvest is ready to offer an individual site for enterprises and offices of Turkish companies. The Belarusian side is ready to take part in financing the construction of the necessary infrastructure at the site.

FEZ Grodnoinvest has invited the Turkish side to invest primarily in the production of automobile components as well as transportation and logistics.

Several companies in Grodnoinvest already do business involving automobile components. Those are OAO Radiovolna, OAO Belcard, OAO Shchuchin Plant Avtoprovod, the hot zincing factory Konus, and other ones. The existing enterprises can be employed for the sake of deploying Turkish enterprises, thus benefiting both sides, explained Dmitry Rozhkov.

Transport logistics also looks promising in Grodnoinvest taking into account the availability of an airport, the well-developed railroad and motorway networks as well as the geographical position. Apart from that, the Turkish side has been suggested tourism projects in the city of Grodno and the special park Augustow Canal. The projects involve the construction of hotels and other ideas.

The Turkish partners are interested in these areas, said the Deputy Head of the FEZ Grodnoinvest administration. The administration expects to receive the proposal on setting up a working group within the next few days. The Turkish side has voiced its intention to prepare and submit the relevant proposals regarding cooperation by the end of the year.

For now there are no enterprises with Turkish investments in FEZ Grodnoinvest.
