GRODNO, 11 August (BelTA) – Companies residing in the free economic zone (FEZ) Grodnoinvest raised $151 million in foreign investments so far this year, the FEZ Grodnoinvest press service told BelTA.
According to the source, FEZ Grodnoinvest resident companies raised $151 million in foreign investments in January-June 2022, 2.5 times as much as last year. The geography of investments includes 12 countries, including the UAE, Uzbekistan, Slovakia, Germany, and Russia.
Most of the investments came from Netherlands, Cyprus, Austria, UK, and Poland. Their share in the total volume exceeded 95%. Two thirds of the investments were raised by resident companies that implement projects in Smorgon District. By the way, Grodnoinvest companies residing in Grodno raised $17.8 million in foreign investments.
Three new enterprises were registered in FEZ Grodnoinvest in 2022. The company Vimzovplast will make polymeric synthetic granulate, which is an import substitute. A Russian investor will start making unique self-assembly packaging for vegetables, fruits, and berries. The company Unionway will start building a container terminal in land plot No.12 of FEZ Grodnoinvest near the railway freight station Svisloch.
