GRODNO, 4 February (BelTA) – In 2020, resident companies of the free economic zone (FEZ) Grodnoinvest produced more than $330 million worth of import-substituting products, BelTA learned from the administration of Grodnoinvest.
The coronavirus and quarantine measures had a significant impact on the global and regional economy. However, FEZ Grodnoinvest resident companies managed to beat recession. “For example, in 2020, residents of the free economic zone were quick to repurpose their facilities and launch the production of popular import-substituting products, making $338 million worth of such goods,” Grodnoinvest representatives noted.
As many as 18 resident companies, mostly small and medium-sized enterprises, produce such goods. Import-substituting products include construction mixtures, food casing, products from wood and corrugated paper, preserves, eco-packaging, and other goods.
