FEZ Gomel-Raton companies eager to increase output by 18.5% in 2021

GOMEL, 26 March (BelTA) – Companies residing in the free economic zone (FEZ) Gomel-Raton intend to increase their output by 18.5% in 2021. Head of the FEZ Gomel-Raton Administration Antonina Yezhova made the statement at a meeting of representatives of the resident companies on 26 March, BelTA has learned.

The official said: “We've analyzed prospects of work in 2021. In line with business plans of the enterprises output is expected to rise by 18.5%, export will rise by nearly 6%, salaries will grow by 10%, and fixed-capital investments will go up, too.”

In her words, steady growth of the main financial and economic parameters in 2021 will be fueled by the modernization of existing enterprises and the registration of new resident companies.

Promising investment projects are being implemented. For instance, the Alcopack company is building a new wing to make new medical products. Policap is working on a project to make disposable tableware out of cellulose. A number of other companies also intend to step up production.

Dynamic development of enterprises is in progress, new jobs are being created not only in Gomel but in the districts, too – in Mozyr, Turov, Svetlogorsk, and other places, Antonina Yezhova pointed out. She said she is confident that all the tasks the resident companies face will be accomplished.

Speaking about last year's work, the official said that 2020 was a year of trials. “Conventional forms of work changed. We switched primarily to online events. However, we finished the year quite well. We even exceeded performance of 2019 in some figures,” she noted. For instance, over 700 jobs were created at FEZ Gomel-Raton enterprises in 2020. Output of resident companies rose by nearly 15%, earnings rose by 17%, and export went up by virtually 7%. A foreign trade surplus was secured.

A number of high-performing companies were awarded during the meeting. Companies presented upcoming projects that will be implemented in FEZ Gomel-Raton.

As of 1 January 2021 the free economic zone Gomel-Raton was home to 70 commercial entities. The average number of their workers was close to 30,000 people. The resident companies export about 70% of their output to over 60 countries.
