MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – Timber exports by the Forestry Ministry companies rose by 15% in 2024, Belarusian Forestry Minister Aleksandr Kulik said at the 2024 year-end board meeting of the ministry, BelTA learned.
"Thanks to diversification effort, timber exports rose by 15%, while the volumes of sawn timber supplies exceeded 1 million cubic meters,” Aleksandr Kulik noted.
The minister also noted that the industry organizations harvested almost 20 million cubic meters of timber in 2024. Last year the level of mechanization in logging amounted to 65% of the total volume of harvesting. The ministry will continue this work, the minister said.
The board meeting was attended by senior officials of the industry, including Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich, and heads from other agencies.
