Expert: Minsk Mir may contribute 6-7% to Belarus' GDP

MINSK, 23 November (BelTA) – The multipurpose shopping and entertainment center Minsk Mir in Belarus may contribute 6-7% to the country's GDP per annum in the future, Gary Burrows, head of the commercial real estate division at Dana Holdings, told BelTA.

“The center is the biggest project in Europe today and has already been attracting foreign investors. In the future it may contribute 6-7% to Belarus' annual GDP,” said Gary Burrows.

The Minsk Mir compound, which construction was launched in October 2015, will occupy the area of 320ha at the site of the former airport Minsk 1. The project will include the construction of 30,000 apartments, a new 50ha park, four schools and nine kindergartens. The main draw of the compound will be its trade and financial center.

“It is planned that the international financial center Minsk Mir will serve the region with the population of 300 million people,” said the representative of Dana Holdings. “The center will attract a lot of foreign investment, a big number of international companies that will work here and advance Belarus on the world market,” he stressed.

The Minsk Mir project has already won a number of prestigious awards, including Global RLI Awards 2015 in Dubai and Realt GoldenKey 2015 in Minsk. Dana Holdings was recognized Europe's best developer of multipurpose commercial centers at the exhibition MAPIC 2015.

The international investment and civil engineering group of companies Dana Holdings is now busy building 5 million m2 of real estate in Eastern Europe. Dana Holdings has been working in Belarus since 2006 and is the largest real estate developer on the Belarusian market. The company is represented in Belarus by its three divisions: Dana Astra, Zomex Investment, and Belinte Roba. Among its major projects in Belarus are the multipurpose centers Minsk Mir and Mayak Minska and a shopping and entertainment center Dana Mall.
