MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) - Every fifth new car sold in Belarus in 2020 was produced by BelGee, director of the company Gennady Svidersky told a press conference on 28 January, BelTA has learned.
“The biggest achievement of the previous year was that our share in the Belarusian market grew from 10% to 20%. Thus, every fifth new car sold in 2020 was made at BelGee. If we maintain and even increase our market share, this would mean that we are on the right track,” said Gennady Svidersky.
In his words, the economy in general and the performance of businesses in particular are severely impacted by the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic. “The challenges are unprecedented. They will be quite difficult to withstand. The automotive component market is turbulent, and this affects the cost of production. In this difficult period it is important to build the right strategy,” the director of the plant said.
The BelGee planted was officially opened on 17 November 2017. The company is located between Borisov and Zhodino and occupies an area of 118 hectares. Belarus-assembled Geely vehicles are certified according to the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union and tested according to the EuroNCAP methodology (the tests involve such tests as frontal, side impact, etc.).
