MOSCOW, 8 February (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Union and India seek to step up negotiations on a free trade agreement, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) told BelTA citing Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrei Slepnev.
“I hope that we will be able to hold the first round of talks in the coming months,” Andrei Slepnev said as he met with newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Russia Pavan Kapoor.
The EEC minister noted that cooperation with India is also discussed in the context of the large North-South economic corridor. “This is more than transport. This is about economic partnerships in Eurasia,” he said.
In January-November 2021 the trade between the EAEU and India amounted to $14.52 billion, up 32.7% year-on-year.
