Eurasian Economic Commission's work on draft EAEU natural gas market agreement nearly over

MOSCOW, 28 April (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Commission is about to complete work on a draft international agreement on setting up the common market of natural gas of the Eurasian Economic Union, BelTA has learned.

The press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission quoted Member of the Board (Minister) for Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission Temirbek Asanbekov after a conference of heads of the authorized agencies of the Eurasian Economic Union member states held to discuss fundamental matters of formation of the common market of natural gas. The minister said it is important to complete reconciling the draft international agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union's common natural gas market. The agreement is supposed to be signed this year. Temirbek Asanbekov said he was confident the sides share the interest in a constructive dialogue and the development of mutually acceptable solutions.

The sides discussed uncoordinated provisions of the natural gas agreement, uniform rules of access to gas transportation systems, and the procedure for exchange trade in natural gas. A number of differences of opinion were addressed. Heads of the authorized agencies stated the need to reach a consensus on all the uncoordinated issues as fast as possible.

Temirbek Asanbekov informed participants of the conference that the documents regulating the common natural gas market of the union will be further discussed at the next session of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
