Eurasian Economic Commission ups requirements for manufactured products

MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – The removal of barriers and restrictions on the market of the Eurasian Economic Union, the enforcement of new requirements for manufactured products, efforts to ensure the safety of products and their compliance with modern scientific and technological standards were high on the agenda of the latest session of the Consultative Committee for Technical Regulation, Sanitary, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Measures of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The session was chaired by Viktor Nazarenko, a Member of the Board (Minister) for Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, BelTA has learned.

Participants of the session approved a number of documents for consideration of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission. Those included a draft Eurasian Economic Union technical regulation on the safety of high-voltage products, draft amendments to the Eurasian Economic Union technical regulation on the safety of products that operate under excessive pressure. The draft amendments provide for introducing new terms, clarifying some provisions of the technical regulation, and introducing minor amendments taking into account the practice of application of the document.

Amendments to the lists of standards were approved for consideration of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission for the sake of ensuring the implementation of the technical regulation on the safety of machines and equipment and the technical regulation on the safety of packaged drinking water, including natural mineral water.

Members of the Consultative Committee approved for consideration of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission draft amendments to the programs on developing (amending, revising) interstate standards that apply to the Eurasian Economic Union's technical regulations on the safety of food products and on the safety of devices that use gaseous fuel.

As for sanitary, phytosanitary, and veterinary measures the Consultative Committee decided to forward a draft resolution of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission on amending Customs Union Commission resolution No.318 of 18 June 2010 to the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The draft resolution of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission provides for introducing amendments of legal and technical nature to the Customs Union Commission resolution. Apart from that, the Consultative Committee voted to approve new revisions of a number of documents that regulate the operation of the Consultative Committee's subcommittees on sanitary measures, veterinary sanitary measures, and phytosanitary measures as well as the operation of expert groups, working groups, and interim groups in the sphere of quarantine phytosanitary measures.
