MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) - Energy is the basis for the development of economy and business, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Tatiana Bantsevich said at the 15th Belarusian energy and environmental forum Energy Expo, which is running in Minsk on 12-15 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.
"Energy is the basis for the development of economy and business. Therefore, it must be efficient, modern and, therefore, environmentally friendly. It is obvious that the commissioning of the Belarusian NPP plays a key role in this process. The launch of the nuclear power plant will enable the economy to move to a new level, develop energy-intensive manufacturing sectors, while maintaining the environmental balance," Tatiana Bantsevich said.
This year the forum marks the 90th anniversary of the Belarusian energy system. Traditionally, the program of the event includes exhibitions, roundtables, conferences, presentations, etc. The focus is on strategic development of the energy industry. The forum is attended by senior officials and experts of the Economic Ministry.
