Energy Ministry comments on reports about Russian electricity import to Belarus

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – The Energy Ministry has commented on reports about Russian electricity import to Belarus, BelTA has learned.

According to the Belarusian Energy Ministry press service, Belarus imports Russian electricity as an additional measure to ensure reliable power supply ahead of the autumn-winter period. Energy consumption has already increased in Belarus a bit due to falling air temperatures. Electricity is imported depending on its economic advisability and electricity import in this case is economically advisable, the source said.

Belarus intends to import a total of about 300 million kWh of electricity from Russia in September.

There are no plans to import Russian electricity in October, the Belarusian Energy Ministry said.
