EEC Board to consider digital solutions in cargo and passenger transportation

MOSCOW, 23 June (BelTA) – The agenda of a meeting of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission on 25 June will feature 25 items, Iya Malkina, Aide to the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), said on her Facebook account, BelTA has learned.

“The agenda is packed, featuring 25 items. The vice premiers will consider the progress on the draft agreement on the use of navigation seals in the EAEU to track the movement of goods, to remove barriers in the domestic market; to facilitate cooperation in the aviation industry. It is expected that the council will okay the launch of the project ‘Digital technical regulation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)," Iya Malkina noted.

The board will also consider the use of digital technologies to ensure the freedom of movement of EAEU citizens in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19; ways of improving the assessment of digital markets in the EAEU states; and the separation of powers between the antimonopoly authorities of the Eurasian Economic Union member states and the Eurasian Economic Commission.

"It is expected that the EEC Board will make changes to the rules of EAEU Good Industrial Practices, the technical regulation on food safety, the method of calculating and imposing fines for violation of general competition rules in cross-border markets, and the rules for determining the country of origin of certain types of goods for public procurement purposes," Iya Malkina added.
