Economy Ministry sees Belarusian economy grow above forecast

MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) -  In Belarus, investments and household disposable income experience a higher than anticipated growth, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

In January-May the GDP rose by 2.5%. Drivers were such industries as construction (+11.9%), manufacturing (1%), information and communication (4.9%), transport (1.9%) and trade (1.5%).

In the period under review, retail surged by 9.3% thanks to the outstripping household disposable income growth (10.8% in January-April).

In January-May, capital investment soared by 14.7%. Enterprises continue to actively invest in their technological development and renewal: expenses to purchase machinery and equipment increased by more than 20%.

In January-May, 1,338,100 square meters of new homes were delivered. It was 9.2% more year-on-year. This helped the construction sector to maintain a momentum.

Annual inflation in May was running at 7.1%, mainly due to the growth of core inflation and prices for fruits and vegetables.
The stable economy and increased labor productivity make it possible to ensure higher wages which averaged about Br2,520 in January-April 2025. Labor pensions exceeded Br910
