Economy ministry predicts manufacturing growth, higher demand in Belarus

MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) - Industrial enterprises of Belarus expect manufacturing growth and an increase in demand for their products, BelTA learned from Economy Ministry following an opinion poll of directors of industrial enterprises, conducted by the Research Institute of the Economy Ministry in February, BelTA was informed in the press service of the agency.

Almost a third of the polled reported an increase in production. 38% of respondents stated that the output remained at the same level.

The average order portfolio reached a five-year record of 3.4 months. The average industrial capacity utilization rate remained at 68% in February.

83% of respondents reported that the price level remained unchanged. The overwhelming majority of respondents (90%) said that the number of employees remained the same or grew. 

Nine out of ten managers forecast manufacturing growth in the short term. the preservation or growth of production volumes. More than a quarter (27%) believe that profits at enterprises will rise. Directors of industrial enterprises also expect an increase in demand for manufactured goods both in the domestic and foreign markets.
