Economy minister explores cooperation opportunities between Belarus, Russia’s Bashkortostan

MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) – Belarus aims to deepen trade, economic and investment cooperation with Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan, Belarus’ Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said as he met with students of the Institute of Economics, Management and Business of the Ufa University of Science and Technology, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

The meeting is timed to the 25th anniversary of the Belarus-Russia Union State. It is held as part of the round table “The Republic of Bashkortostan in the system of Russia-Belarus integration”. The Belarusian economy minister spoke about the country's youth policy, the education system, achievements and new approaches in this area, as well as the economic sector. “According to the education index in 2023, the Republic of Belarus was placed 57th place out of 207 countries, and 10 Belarusian universities made it to the list of the world’s best universities in the Webometrics ranking. Young people from 112 countries study in Belarus. And we will be glad to see young people from Bashkortostan among our undergraduate and postgraduate students,” Yuri Chebotar said. The minister mentioned mutually beneficial investment projects that are currently run by Belarus and Bashkortostan.

The economy minister also met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Bashkortostan Andrei Nazarov to thrash out plans to expand trade and economic cooperation, increase supplies of Belarusian agricultural products, utility vehicles, and investment. In addition, Yuri Chebotar visited the Eurasian Scientific and Educational Center, a number of regional organizations, including the office of the 1AK-Group holding company, Art-Osnastka and Ufa Transformer Plant, and explored the existing opportunities to deepen cooperation with Belarusian enterprises and create new cooperation chains.
