MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) - Economic projects of Belarus and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast of Russia deliver strong results, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Evgeny Lyulin told the media following the meeting with Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Vadim Ipatov, BelTA has learned.
“Economy is the main driver of everything. Therefore, economic topics are discussed in the first place. There are joint projects that we have already implemented. They deliver strong results. We produce goods jointly with Belarusian enterprises. We produce Belarusian trams and elevators in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. We are currently discussing a large program for the development of river transport at the highest state level, and I think that in December we will set some clear guidelines in this area. There are many other areas of cooperation. Our joint economy is on the rise. As of today the increase this year has already reached 8% as compared to the previous year. The pace is really high,” Evgeny Lyulin said.
The parties actively develop inter-parliamentary cooperation. “Within the Union State, our parliaments develop joint laws, discuss and work out various legislative acts that benefit our states,” the chairman of the Legislative Assembly said.
“We are now developing small-town cooperation with Grodno Oblast. We organize congresses of small towns, where the most relevant agenda for the development of our municipalities is discussed. Our youth parliaments are very active today. We have already signed agreements with two regions - Brest Oblast and Grodno Oblast. Our youth parliament has already been holding joint events, developing joint legislative initiatives, organizing forums. For example, the congress of rural youth took place in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast this year. The event gathered a lot of representatives from different regions of Belarus,” Evgeny Lyulin said. “Cultural and sports exchanges are on the agenda of our joint work.”
