EAEU standardization authorities sign cooperation agreement

MINSK, 9 December (BelTA) – The national standardization authorities of the Eurasian Economic Union member states signed an agreement on joint activities and a respective action plan at an online session of the heads of the standardization authorities on 9 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Committee for Standardization of Belarus.

The agreement was signed by the heads of the national standardization authorities of Armenia (National Body for Standards and Metrology of the Ministry of Economy), Belarus (Belarusian State Institute for Standardization and Certification), Kazakhstan (Kazakhstan Institute of Metrology), Kyrgyzstan (Center for Standardization and Metrology under the Ministry of Economy) and Russia (Russian Scientific and Technical Center for Information on Standardization, Metrology and Conformity Assessment). On the part of Belarus, the agreement was signed by the Director of the Belarusian State Institute for Standardization and Certification Aleksandr Skuratov.

The document provides for joint planning, development, reconciliation and revision of interstate standards; development of an information system for comprehensive support in the field of technical regulation in the EAEU; coordination of training programs for standardization personnel; international cooperation in standardization.

This agreement will help streamline standardization of products and research (testing) and measurement techniques in the EAEU, and thus facilitate the implementation of uniform technical regulations and help increase the competitiveness of products,” the press service noted.

The participants of the meeting also decided to put together a working group to coordinate efforts to implement the agreement.

This year Belarus presides over the Council of Heads of the EAEU National (State) Standardization Bodies. Chairman of Belarus' State Committee for Standardization Valentin Tataritsky heads the council this year.
