EAEU presidency to contribute to Belarus-Kazakhstan closer ties

MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) – Kazakhstan intends to boost economic cooperation with Belarus in 2020 in the context of Belarus' presidency in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Askar Beisenbayev said at a press conference on 16 September, BelTA has learned.

The ambassador stressed the importance of Belarus' presidency in the EAEU in 2020 as Kazakhstan and Belarus cooperate closely within this union. He noted that the EAEU should focus on ensuring equal rights for enterprises of the EAEU member states. “Kazakhstan sees its participation in the EAEU as a priority. This serves our interests,” Askar Beisenbayev said. “We hope that next year Belarus will focus on equal access for economic entities to the common market. It can count on Kazakhstan's support in this matter,” he added.

The ambassador expressed hope that the two countries will coordinate their efforts on this front.

He also pointed out that Belarus and Kazakhstan not only develop bilateral cooperation but also are long-term partners within such international or regional organizations as the CIS, the CSTO, the OSCE, and the SCO thanks to similar or same approaches.
