EAEU may sign common gas market agreement in 2022

MOSCOW, 2 September (BelTA) - The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries may sign a common gas market agreement in 2022, Iya Malkina, official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), told a press briefing in Moscow on 2 September, BelTA has learned.

“As for the common gas market, the work is going on in accordance with the approved plan. An international agreement on its development may be signed in 2022. The heads of state gave instructions to ensure the implementation of pricing principles and the development of tariff policy in the common market, based on non-discriminatory, fair competition. The corresponding work is in progress,” Iya Malkina said.

The EEC representative said that as part of the common gas market there will be an opportunity to buy this energy resource on the exchange. “For this purpose, a procedure for gas exchange trading will be adopted. The procedure is under development together with the governments of the participating countries and the national exchanges,” she added.
