MOSCOW, 20 August (BelTA) – Countries of the Eurasian Economic Union intend to dismantle 14 barriers on the union's domestic market by the end of 2022, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission told BelTA after a session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council took place in Cholpon Ata, Kyrgyzstan on 19-20 August. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko took part in the session.
Participants of the session approved a list of exemptions and restrictions, which exist on the Eurasian Economic Union's domestic market and are supposed to be removed in 2021-2022. The list includes 14 hindrances: 13 restrictions and one exemption.
According to Member of the Board (Minister) for Internal Markets, Informatization, Information and Communication Technologies of the Eurasian Economic Commission Gegam Vardanyan, the compilation of this list requires a lot of work, however, it is a very important process. He said: “Today the heads of government have in fact identified the most sensitive hindrances that need to be removed in 2021-2022. Their identification and consequent work to remove them represent another significant step in ensuring the operation of the internal market without barriers, exemptions, and restrictions.”
The Eurasian Economic Commission will work together with the governments of the EAEU member states to put together an action plan (a roadmap) on optimizing the work to dismantle the specified barriers. The document will be submitted for consideration of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission by 1 October.
