MINSK, 23 June (BelTA) - Agricultural production in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU is estimated at $136 billion, BelTA learned from the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
"Over 10 years, agricultural production has increased by almost 30%. Production of milk exceeds 51 million tonnes, and that of grain and leguminous crops is almost 172 million tonnes. Self-sufficiency of the EAEU countries in food is 93%, which is a guarantee of food security of the participating countries. Armenia is a leader in the production of fruits and berries. The average per capita fruit and berry production is 121kg. Self-sufficiency in fruits and berries (strawberries, apricots, grapes, apples) is more than 100%. Armenia exports these goods to all EAEU member states," the EEC noted.
The EAEU countries rank first in the world in the export of frozen fish, wheat and flax seeds, 2nd in wheat flour, sunflower and rapeseed oils, 3rd in barley and rapeseed.
