Dynamics of Belarus-Armenia trade described as excellent

MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) - This year shows excellent dynamics of trade between Belarus and Armenia, Belarusian Vice Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik said at a meeting with Armenian Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan, BelTA reports.

"Today's meeting is a good opportunity to discuss topical issues of the bilateral relations. Our meetings are held on a regular basis. A meeting of the intergovernmental commission held in Yerevan adopted appropriate decisions both by the Belarusian and Armenian sides. Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia. The parties outlined the areas of further cooperation,” Piotr Parkhomchik noted.

According to him, such meetings get reflected in the results of joint work. "Over the past four years, the trade between our countries has almost tripled. This year shows excellent dynamics - the trade has skyrocketed by almost 100%. I am glad that this movement is two-way. Both Belarusian exports to your country and Armenian imports to Belarus have grown. Today we are at about the same level," the vice prime minister said.

The vice prime minister noted that “there is no reason to let our guard down” and urged to continue to work actively, tap into the reserves and strive for better results. “The situation that we have found ourselves in due to the actions by the so-called unfriendly countries gives us real opportunities to expand our relations both in terms of export to Armenia and imports to Belarus," Piotr Parkhomchik said noting that Belarus has something to offer Armenia.

The deputy head of government said that Belarus accepted the proposal of the Russian Federation to act as the general partner of the traditional Innoprom expo in Yekaterinburg. Piotr Parkhomchik invited Armenia to attend this event and see the new types of products and offers. "Belarus' traditionally focuses on mechanical engineering - transport, agricultural engineering, microelectronics. Our specialists went to your country and studied your experience in the field of microelectronics. We can actively complement each other in this industry," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

In turn, Armenian Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan noted the positive movement in terms of bilateral trade this year. "This is just the beginning of the journey. We have good potential in various areas of cooperation: industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, energy, construction, high and information technology, financial sector," he stressed.
