Development of EAEU agreements on common markets of natural gas, oil, oil products discussed

MOSCOW, 29 March (BelTA) – The council of heads of authorized bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union member states in the sphere of energy industry chaired by Member of the Board (Minister) for Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission Arzybek Kozhoshev looked into topical matters concerning the creation of common energy markets in the Eurasian Economic Union as well as the main principles and directions for ensuring energy security in the union, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission told BelTA.

The high-level conference took place at premises of the Eurasian Economic Commission on 29 March. The parties discussed individual aspects and progress in preparing international agreements on forming the union’s common markets of natural gas, oil, and oil products.

“We intend to continue substantive discussion of unreconciled matters at the level of the union’s bodies soon,” Arzybek Kozhoshev said.

The energy ministers also reaffirmed the intention to work out mutually acceptable decisions on sensitive matters concerning the operation of the common energy markets.

During the conference the parties also acknowledged that the measures being taken to ensure energy security of the member states and the Eurasian Economic Union as a whole are sufficient. They expressed the intention to continue advancing cooperation in order to enhance energy security.

The EAEU member states demonstrate unity on a number of matters. The creation of the common energy markets and ensuring energy security represent common and important tasks for the Eurasian Economic Union countries, Arzybek Kozhoshev stressed.
