Deputy minister: Belarus-China investment cooperation relies on interregional contacts

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – Belarus-China interregional cooperation is a necessary condition for promoting investment cooperation, Deputy Economy Minister Anzhelika Nikitina said during the opening ceremony of the Year of the Regions of Belarus and China hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

The Year of the Regions is the third thematic year for Belarus and China. The year 2018 was declared the Year of Tourism, while 2019 was the Year of Education.

“More than a hundred events will be held as part of this initiative in the next few years. This is expected to give a strong boost to interregional contacts, which will reinforce our cooperation and friendship. Chinese companies are successfully operating in Belarus, having implemented over fifty investment projects last year. At the same time, we have room for growth, the potential has not been exhausted. And interregional cooperation between Belarus and China is a necessary condition for the further expansion of our investment cooperation,” Anzhelika Nikitina noted.

Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolai Borisevich and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Xie Xiaoyong exchanged diplomatic notes. The exchange of the notes marked the official start of the Year of the Regions and the entry into force of the corresponding action plan.
