
MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) - Business activity continues to expand in Belarus, reads the weekly macro review by the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), BelTA has learned.
The country's GDP increased by 3.7% in January this year. The growth was fueled mainly by sectors focused on consumer demand and construction. Retail surged by 12.2%, the volume of construction works, according to preliminary data, went up by 11.2%. Fixed capital investment grew by 20.4% on the back of the government's stimulus measures.
The manufacturing industry, the key driver of the economy last year, expanded by 2.9%.
The Eurasian Development Bank forecasts GDP growth at 2.6% for Belarus in 2025. The country's target forecast is 4.1%.
