MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) - The ninth meeting of the high-level working group for the analysis of obstacles in mutual trade of the CIS member states was held in the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk on 26 May. The online meeting was chaired by CIS Deputy Secretary General Ilkhom Nematov, BelTA learned from the Economic Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, members of the Commission on Economic Issues under the CIS Economic Council, the Eurasian Economic Commission, as well as employees of the CIS Executive Committee.
Ilkhom Nematov noted the importance of the work carried out by the group. “According to the results of the eight previous meetings, 32 out of 42 claims were addressed, four issues were submitted to the CIS Economic Council and six were left for further consideration,” he said.
The participants of the ninth meeting of the working group discussed the implementation of the decisions of the previous meeting, which was held on 30 January 2025, as well as seven claims of the CIS member states on existing obstacles in mutual trade. As a result of the discussion, two issues were addressed and left for further monitoring, and the remaining five will be discussed again at the next meeting of the working group.
At the end of the meeting, it was decided that the CIS Executive Committee would send an appeal to the Eurasian Economic Commission regarding the claim of Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan on Kazakhstan’s unjustified increase of tariffs for transportation by rail in the EAEU. In addition, plans are in place to address the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan with a request for the information on the situation with certification of household appliances exported by the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus to Uzbekistan, as well as on the timing of Uzbekistan's accession to the agreement on the rules of determining the country of origin of goods in the CIS of 20 November 2009.
The participants of the meeting prepared a protocol, which will be sent for consideration by the CIS member states. The next meeting of the working group is scheduled for September.
