Cargo traffic between Black Sea and Baltic Sea to be discussed in Minsk


MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) – Transport officials of five countries will gather in Minsk to discuss ways to boost cargo traffic between the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Transport and Communications Ministry of Belarus.

The press service informed that on 20 March the Transport and Communications Ministry of Belarus will host a session of the coordination council to develop international cargo transportation between the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea. Taking part in the session will be top officials and specialists of transport authorities of Belarus, Lithuania, Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.

They will review implementation of the agreements reached during the previous session of the coordination council, share statistical data and update each other on cargo transportation tariffs. The participants of the session will also discuss barriers preventing expansion of cargo transportation along this route and communicate suggestions on how to eliminate them.

Belarus’ delegation will be led by First Deputy Transport and Communications Minister of Belarus Yevgeny Rogachev. Taking part in the session will be department heads of the ministry and Belarusian Railways.

Lithuania’s delegation will include by Vice-Minister of Transport and Communications Vladislav Kondratovic, representatives of Lithuanian Railways, the Customs Department under the Ministry of Finance, the Lithuanian Stevedoring Companies' Association and the Klaipeda port. Ukraine will be represented by Deputy Infrastructure Minister Vladimir Korniyenko, representatives of State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia. Taking part in the session will be Deputy Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure of Moldova Valery Chubuk, representatives of Railway of Moldova, the Transport Policy Department of the Ministry of Economic and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the commercial department of the cargo transportation branch of Georgian Railways.
