MOSCOW, 18 February (BelTA) – The Economic Commission under the CIS Economic Council (CEC) has issued a recommendation to consider partial resumption of rail passenger traffic on the busiest routes between the CIS countries. The meeting of the commission was chaired by Ambassador of Belarus to Russia, Plenipotentiary Representative at the CIS Economic Council Vladimir Semashko, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission.
“The CEC members recommended that the CIS Railway Council, together with the Coordinating Council on the Sanitary Protection of Territories from the Import and Spread of Particularly Dangerous Infectious Diseases, should consider partial resumption of international railway passenger traffic on the most popular routes. The CEC also gave a number of instructions to the CIS Executive Committee to finalize certain documents,” the press service informed.
The meeting participants approved draft decisions of the CIS Economic Council concerning the implementation of a framework program on peaceful uses of nuclear energy and on giving the status of the innovation commercialization centers to participants of the interstate program of innovative cooperation.
“We studied the report on the activities of the CIS Railway Council, forecasts for the output, consumption, import and export of key commodities for 2021, took note of the information on the development of cooperation in the field of e-commerce, reviewed technological advancements in the CIS member states, discussed a draft roadmap to implement the initiatives put forward by the heads of delegations during the meetings of the CIS Council of Heads of State (18 December 2020) and the CIS Foreign Ministers Council (10 December 2020),” the press service noted.
