Call to discuss Belarus' sustainable development strategy through 2035

MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – The Economy Ministry invites to take part in the discussion of the draft national sustainable development strategy of Belarus for the period till 2035, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.

The strategy will be a system-forming document to compile forecasts and programs of the country's social and economic development as medium and short-term goals. The strategy is based on a systematic approach to boost the development of three interrelated components of the overall potential of the national sustainable development system. These are social, economic and environmental components.

“The national sustainable development strategy till 2035 defines goals, stages and mechanisms for Belarus' transition to a mature civil society and the innovative development of economy while guaranteeing the comprehensive development of the individual, improving living standards and ensuring a favorable environment,” the ministry said.

The new strategy has been prepared by the Economy Ministry together with the ministry's Economy Research Institute, using proposals of government agencies, members of interdepartmental and sectoral groups, the public council for the development and monitoring of sustainable development strategies, the parliamentary corps, scientific and international organizations, educational institutions, and business unions.

The draft strategy was considered at the meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers on 4 February. The document is available on the website of the Economy Ministry. Proposals can be submitted using a special blank on the ministry's website through 24 March.
