MINSK, 30 April (BelTA) – The EAEU needs a common strategy of biological and health security, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, BelTA has learned.
“The EEC Board is actively working on strategic documents. Perhaps we should consider developing a strategy for biological and health security of the EAEU countries. I know that some members, in particular Belarus and the Russian Federation, are working on these topics and are reconsidering approaches with regard to dangerous and particularly dangerous infections. Therefore, I propose to think about the feasibility of developing a common strategy for health and biological security,” Roman Golovchenko noted.
The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council is set to approve the industrial cooperation guidelines until 2025. “By adopting this strategic document, we are setting ourselves several most important tasks. The first one is to ensure the transition to a new level of technological development by stimulating innovative development and digital transformation of the industry. The second is to increase competitiveness, the third is to promote our exports,” he explained.
The prime minister added that this document will also become an instrument for achieving parity of interests as the EAEU states set up and develop new industrial production facilities.
"During an one-on-one meeting we already discussed a number of important issues, in particular, the interstate program of the EAEU integrated system to produce and provide space and geo-information products and services. This is indeed one of those breakthrough programs that can give a competitive edge to all our countries. I am talking, first of all, about those programs, platforms, which are created on the basis of the remote sensing of the Earth systems. Many countries have such developments, and I think that their integration will take this work to a new level. The successful implementation of this project through the use of national competencies will significantly improve the quality of space and geo-information services for the benefit of all the EAEU countries and will strengthen our positions in the global market for such services,” Roman Golovchenko noted.
The prime minister added that the one-on-one meeting highlighted the increasing role of international e-commerce and noted the urgent need for additional regulation of this sector, taking into account the interests of the budgets of the union countries. The parties also had a positive discussion on unification of measures to regulate the export of sensitive food and raw materials, protection of the agricultural market in the EAEU member states.
