Call on business to play active role in cooperation between Azerbaijan, Belarus

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - Given the wide potential and mutual interest, business communities can and should play an active role in promoting Azerbaijani-Belarusian cooperation, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ali Javad oglu Ahmadov said during the plenary session of the Belarusian-Azerbaijani Business Forum in Minsk on 7 June, BelTA has learned.

"We brought a representative government and business delegation to Minsk. This clearly reaffirms our commitment to developing mutually beneficial cooperation with your country. I am confident that the forum will give our business communities an opportunity to find new partners, which will contribute to business ties, new projects,” Ali Javad oglu Ahmadov believes.

Ali Javad oglu Ahmadov noted that such meetings are an effective platform for open dialogue between government and business, where it is possible to discuss existing problems and find ways to solve them. "The tasks and guiding lines outlined by the presidents of our states, in particular during the state visit of the Belarusian president to Azerbaijan, serve as a clear signal to action for entrepreneurs and will allow them to find new points of growth. Today, the economies of Azerbaijan and Belarus are developing dynamically, investment attractiveness and capacity of domestic markets are growing, and business always swiftly responds to the economic situation,” Ali Javad oglu Ahmadov noted.

He invited representatives of Belarusian business to take a closer look at the favorable conditions for work in the Azerbaijani market. "Sustainable economic development gives us the opportunity to address large-scale tasks. Azerbaijani entrepreneurs have all the necessary conditions for growth. Azerbaijan has created favorable conditions for foreign companies, which is facilitated by the measures taken by the state in the field of reducing the tax burden, eliminating administrative barriers and improving the legal framework. A vivid evidence of favorable investment climate is the total volume of foreign investments injected in the Azerbaijani economy over the past 20 years, which exceeds $300 billion in total,” Ali Javad oglu Ahmadov noted.

The deputy prime minister of Azerbaijan reaffirmed his commitment to expanding trade and economic cooperation with Belarus, adding that its potential has not been fully realized. "Together with our colleagues from Belarus, we have come to the conclusion that we cannot be satisfied with the current level of trade. At the representative level, work is already underway to fulfill the instructions of the heads of state, which were given following the recent visit of the Belarusian president to Azerbaijan. These assignments cover a number of areas of cooperation in agriculture, industrial cooperation and not only. Given the wide potential and mutual interest of our countries, our business communities, which have good opportunities to show initiative, can and should play an active role in the further development of Azerbaijani-Belarusian cooperation. The governments of Azerbaijan and Belarus are ready to provide practical support to business,” Ali Javad oglu Ahmadov added.

Minsk has become a meeting place for business of Belarus and Azerbaijan. During the official visit of Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov of Azerbaijan to Belarus and the meeting of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Azerbaijani commission on trade and economic cooperation, business representatives have gathered for the Belarusian-Azerbaijani business forum and B2B negotiations. The forum addresses the issues of interaction and presents successful partnership stories. The plenary part will be followed by B2B negotiations, where representatives of Belarusian companies will be able to establish contacts with the heads of 43 Azerbaijani companies interested in cooperation in agriculture, industry, construction, furniture production, light industry, and pharmaceuticals. More than 150 representatives of Belarusian business have confirmed their participation in the event, which testifies to the high interest in economic relations with Azerbaijan.
