Call for long-term formula to price Russian oil, natural gas deliveries to Belarus

MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – Minsk and Moscow should work out a long-term formula to price energy resources, BelTA learned from State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Grigory Rapota.

The official said: “The debate about oil and natural gas is not over yet. This is why it is difficult for me to comment on it, even more so because I am not directly involved in the resolution of these issues.”

Nevertheless, he noted it is important to come up with “some formula to price energy resources in the long run, a formula that will not force the sides to have very complicated negotiations every time”. “I want to believe we may choose to follow this policy,” the official added.

Representatives of the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research (BISR) are meeting with State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Grigory Rapota in Minsk today. Belarus-Russia relations are being discussed, including integration roadmaps and negotiations on oil and natural gas.
