Call for Belarus to gain stronger foothold on Azerbaijan’s market

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) - Belarusian products should be widely available on the market of Azerbaijan, Minsk First Vice Mayor Nadezhda Lazarevich told the media on 12 June, BelTA has learned.

The Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation led by Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova visited the First National Trading House. The delegation was accompanied by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova.

“The First National Trading House is a pride for our country. It is great that the speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan paid a visit to it. What did we talk about? We talked about the need to expand our opportunities. We have great potential to be present in the Azerbaijani market. We have signed a twinning agreement with Baku this year. Therefore, goods produced in the Republic of Belarus, in Minsk, should be widely available on the Azerbaijani market,” Nadezhda Lazarevich said. “We also discussed the investment topic. Azerbaijani business is showing a keen interest. There is a lot to develop here in terms of the capabilities of industrial enterprises, light and heavy industries.”

The women's business forum was also high on the agenda. “I hope it will take place in Baku in the near future. We have already been invited. Therefore, we will show and tell about our opportunities there,” the first vice mayor said. “We need to develop partnership relations in trade and industrial scale, to open joint ventures, which will further strengthen the potential of both countries.”

The speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan also visited the National Library of Belarus. During the tour, the speaker was gifted a book about heroes-defenders of Belarus born in Azerbaijan and a Belarusian children's book about Azerbaijan. Sahiba Gafarova signed the Book of Distinguished Guests of the National Library of Belarus.
