MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) - The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) is ready to become a one-stop-shop service for Turkmenistan's business planning to supply their products to or make purchases in Belarus, Yaroslav Kovalchuk, Assistant Chairman of the Board of the BUCE, told the media following his visit to the International Trade and Services Expo (ITSE 2025) in Ashgabat, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian commodity exchange.
According to Yaroslav Kovalchuk, BUCE is interested in developing cooperation with Turkmenistan’s business both in terms of increasing the volume of transactions and expanding the range of goods involved in mutual trade.
“Since we have accredited almost all the main producers and consumers of Belarusian goods, then, by entering the exchange, Turkmenistan’s enterprises get access to the entire market of our country, as well as up-to-date information on prices and delivery conditions. This greatly simplifies the work of Turkmen business in Belarus and allows minimizing time costs and possible risks,” the BUCE representative stressed.
According to the assistant chairman of the BUCE board, today the exchange trade between Belarus and Turkmenistan consists mainly of the Belarusian timber export.
“The dynamics is good. In comparison with January-April 2024, the number of exchange transactions of Turkmen traders has increased more than five times, primarily due to the increase in the export of Belarusian products,” said Yaroslav Kovalchuk.
As for the import from Turkmenistan, according to the BUCE representative, the most promising commodity groups are textiles, fruit and vegetable products. In this regard, negotiations with a number of Turkmen producers of these products were held on the sidelines of ITSE 2025 to attract them to the Belarusian exchange.
As part of the visit to Ashgabat, the Belarusian delegation also held a meeting with the management of the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan. The parties discussed opportunities to intensify cooperation, including in the analytics and technology exchange, which will contribute to improving the efficiency and competitiveness of the Belarusian and Turkmen exchange platforms.
As of 30 April, 21 residents of Turkmenistan were accredited with BUCE.
