Brest Oblast delegation to visit Anhui Province of China in 2020

BREST, 9 December (BelTA) - The Brest Oblast Executive Committee hosted a Chinese delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Anhui Province Peoples Congress Standing Committee Xie Guangxiang on 9 December, BelTA has learned.

“Our cooperation is moving forward. We are set to develop it further. We are interested in bolstering the ties between the regions and creating a platform for the exchange of delegations at the highest level. We invite representatives of Brest Oblast to visit Anhui Province in September 2020 and to take part in a forum of business meetings," Xie Guangxiang said. “We would also like our relations to become stronger in industry and agriculture. For example, we would like to increase the supply of dairy products. More attention needs to be paid to tourism, education, and culture,” he added.

Deputy Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Andrei Klets stressed that the Belarusian and Chinese regions have developed a good partnership over a short period of time and called to implement specific projects to strengthen them. “We will surely send a delegation for the forum next September to learn more about China's producers, their capabilities and to present ourselves. If there is a more detailed cooperation program, we will set up a meeting between the leadership of Brest Oblast and Anhui Province,” he said.

For his part, chairman of the Brest Oblast Council of Deputies Yuri Narkevich invited the delegation of Anhui Province to participate in the B2B forum Brest 2020 in April. He added that China is a strategic partner for Brest Oblast in particular and for the country in general, so there are enough reserves to build up the relations. “This year the exports to China increased by 1.5 times over 2018. We supply dairy and meat products, confectionery, ice cream, juice, baby food. We see the demand for our food and are ready to offer more commodity items. This applies not only to food but also to industrial goods,” Yuri Narkevich said.

Consideration was given to the joint project implemented by JAC Motors from Anhui Province and BelautoMAZ Holding Company. It provides for the assembly of light vehicles and passenger minibuses in Brest. “We would like to see higher localization in our market. Volumes are not enough to supply these products to neighboring markets. The promising area we are working on is electric vehicles. We and our partners are looking into the possibility of producing electric cars in Brest,” Andrei Klets explained.

The Chinese delegation is set to visit the Brest State Technical University, OAO Brestmash and Kobrin Butter and Cheese Plant.
