Brest Oblast, Chinese partners launch greenhouse complex investment project

BREST, 7 December (BelTA) - The Brest Oblast Executive Committee signed an agreement with Chinese partners on 7 December for the co-investment in a project to build greenhouse complexes for vegetable cultivation in Brest Oblast, BelTA learned from the Brest Oblast Executive Committee.

A delegation from Brest Oblast is on a visit to China. Brest Oblast Governor Piotr Parkhomchik emphasized that China is one of Belarus’ key partners. In recent years, mutual trade has grown significantly. Chinese business investments in the economy of Brest Oblast exceed $200 million. The parties are jointly implementing projects in various fields, with the agribusiness sector on today’s agenda.

During negotiations in Shanghai, agreements were reached on cooperation in implementing an investment project for constructing a greenhouse complex in Brest Oblast. Utilizing advanced Chinese technologies will increase off-season vegetable production volumes. The first stage involves building 1.75 hectares of super-greenhouses. The long-term goal is to develop advanced complexes covering a much larger area.

The packed agenda of the Brest Oblast delegation’s visit to China includes a series of meetings, negotiations, and contract signings. It also includes a meeting with the leadership of Anhui Province. Earlier on 7 December, contracts exceeding $7.3 million were signed for the supply of products by Brest Oblast enterprises.

The visit will last through 11 December.
