Belorusneft working on extraction, oil industry service projects on three continents

GOMEL, 28 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian company Belorusneft develops international projects in the sphere of extraction of hydrocarbons and oil industry service on three continents, BelTA has learned.

The main countries Belorusneft is present in are Russia, Ukraine, Ecuador, and India.

For instance, Belorusneft has signed a contract with India's largest oil and gas corporation ONGC. Deputy Director of Belorusneft's oil industry research institute BelNIPIneft Aleksei Kudryashov explained that Belarusian specialists will have to come up with surface-active materials to increase reservoir recovery. “Leading companies from America and Europe were participating in the tender. We demonstrated our knowledge, competence and won the tender,” he remarked.

The Belarusian specialists will have to select surface-active materials for six mature fields located in various parts of India. The contract needs to be fulfilled within nine months. A broad range of studies will have to be performed. After that the customer will decide on further plans regarding the project.

Belorusneft's representatives also talked about last year's performance on foreign markets. For instance, in Russia the company commissioned 20 production drilling wells, performed major overhaul on 180 wells, performed 68 hydraulic fracturing operations, and four well operations using the SKIF technology. In Ukraine the company commissioned five wells, drilled 25,526m, and performed 31 hydraulic fracturing operations. As many as 90 operations to repair wells using the coiled tubing fleet were performed as well as 19 operations to cement the wells.

Belarusian oil industry specialists built five wells and extracted over 130,000 tonnes of oil in the oil field Armadillo (block 55) in Ecuador. Nearly 250,000 tonnes of oil has been extracted since Belorusneft started implementing the project in Ecuador.

Andrei Bokhan, Head of the Foreign Economic Activities Office of Belorusneft, said: “Every extraction region has its own peculiarities. For instance, Ecuador has very high environmental requirements. Projects are often implemented in nature reserves, in the jungle where the ecosystem needs to be preserved.”

The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in exploration, prospecting, and development of oil fields, well drilling, extraction of oil and associated petroleum gas. Belorusneft also offers oil industry services in other countries.
