BelNPP generates 30bn kWh of electricity

MINSK, 28 May (BelTA) - The Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP) has so far generated 30 billion kWh of electricity, BelTA learned from the press service of the Energy Ministry.

“Since the connection of the first power unit to the unified power grid, BelNPP has generated 30 billion kWh of electricity, which helped replace about 8 billion cubic meters of natural gas,” the ministry said.

Currently, the plant’s two units operate at full capacity. It meets the growing demand for electricity by both the country’s real sector of the economy and households. In January-April 2024, the overall electricity consumption in the country increased by 9.7% year-on-year and amounted to 15.3 billion kWh.

BelNPP also brings a significant environmental effect. Its operation has helped save the atmosphere from about 14 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
