Belneftekhim reports 4.5% increase in oil production in H1 2025

MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) - Belarus recorded a 4.5% growth in oil production during the first six months of 2025, Chairman of the Belarusian State Concern for Oil and Chemistry (Belneftekhim Concern) Ilya Ikan told the media following a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 22 July, BelTA learned.

Ilya Ikan highlighted Belorusneft's consistent achievements in oil extraction over the past several years. This positive trend continues in 2025.

“In the first six months alone, we've achieved a 4.5% increase year-on-year,” he noted.

Ilya Ikan emphasized that this success stems from the world-class expertise of Belorusneft specialists. This enables the company to ensure effective extraction, consistent production growth, and continuous expansion of both extractable and explored reserves. Today, this proves helpful for Gomel Oblast, where the company mainly operates, and also for the country as a whole.

"This year, we plan to extract slightly over 2 million tonnes of oil," Ilya Ikan stated.

According to him the Belarusian crude oil is of superior quality. “It's notably lighter than Russian crude and delivers significantly higher yields of valuable light petroleum products."

In addition, the expertise enables Belorusneft to gain a foothold in the international services markets. “Today, a number of teams work in the Russian market. The fact that they are present there on a competitive basis and there is a demand for them suggests that our competencies, specialists, our production costs are absolutely in demand and correspond to world standards,” Ilya Ikan stressed.

Regarding the oil production in Belarus, the head of the concern stated that the president sets the right ambitious goals, focusing on achieving greater results: “The president always sets ambitious goals. This is right. This encourages us to move faster towards our goals.”

The head of Belneftekhim stated that Belarus has shifted from extensive to intensive methods in oil production. The focus now is on expanding geological exploration, as this increases the likelihood of discovering not only hydrocarbon reserves but also deposits of other valuable minerals.
