Belinterexpo: Over $217m contracts signed by Belarusian companies during expos abroad in 2019

MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) – More than $217 million worth of contracts were signed by Belarusian companies as they took part in foreign exhibitions with the help of Belinterexpo exhibition operator at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2019, Belinterexpo director Evgeny Vvedensky told the media, BelTA has learned.

Evgeny Vvedensky noted that in 2019 Belinterexpo was the operator of 34 exhibitions abroad, one third more than in 2018. In particular, Belarus' maiden exhibitions were organized in countries such as Angola, Nigeria, Mongolia. Half of the events were held in the so-called “distant arc” countries. “As for the results of participation in these events, the contracts that we know were singed during the events amounted to $217.6 million,” said Evgeny Vvedensky.

The most productive expo for domestic companies was China International Import Expo in Shanghai (China), during which they signed contracts for almost $173 million. The contracts concluded at Gulfood in Dubai (UAE) and Made in Belarus in Almaty (Kazakhstan) amounted to $12 million.

Evgeny Vvedensky noted that exhibitions are, first of all, an opportunity for networking. Then follows a period of negotiations, and only after that contracts are concluded. "Thus, figures increase manifold," he said.

A total of 254 Belarusian enterprises took part in the events held abroad in 2019. The total area of Belarusian exhibitions during all these forums exceeded 5,000m2.

Most frequent participants are companies from industries such as food and beverages, woodworking, engineering, chemistry and petrochemicals, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, transport and logistics. Scientific developments and technologies are often presented abroad.

“Our exhibitions are more than just exhibition events,” said Evgeny Vvedensky. “This is a serious marketing tool. We provide all our enterprises with information about the market of a country they are going to visit, the price policy, and potential partners. We invite these potential partners, conduct an advertising and information campaign, organize a number of events such as consultation seminars, roadshows where one can get the information you need, B2B seminars, and visits to various manufacturing and retail companies,” he added.

Now work is underway to improve the concept of Belarus' participation in exhibitions abroad, said Evgeny Vvedensky. “It is likely to undergo major changes, and our expositions abroad will be called differently. These will be Belarus' export missions which will reflect the essence of what we are doing,” he noted.
