Belenergo names power plants slated for pellet boilers

MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) - In a new episode of BelTA’s Nation Speaks project, Deputy Chief Engineer of Belarus’ State Production Association of the Electric Power Industry Belenergo Aleksandr Mikhnyuk announced which power plants were to get pellet boilers.
According to Aleksandr Mikhnyuk, there is a current need to move away from natural gas consumption. In this regard, the Minskenergo and Brestenergo state enterprises are developing projects for the construction of fuel pellet boilers.

“The installation of such boilers is planned for the Shabany boiler house in Minsk, for Minskenergo's CHP Plant No.5, and for the Baranovichi CHP Plant,” he said. “Approximately from 2028, as these projects are implemented, the consumption of local types of fuel will increase by about 54,000 tonnes of conventional fuel per year. This will make it possible to significantly reduce the use of natural gas.”
