MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – In January-June of this year gross agricultural output in farms of all categories increased by 10.2% year-on-year, BelTA has learned from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
"The results were due to the earlier start of grain harvesting due to good weather. Accordingly, crop production rose the most, by 44.1%. For example Grodno Oblast posted a 81.2% increase, Minsk Oblast - 50.3%," the Agriculture and Food Ministry said.
Grain harvest was 420,000 tonnes more than in January-June 2023, haylage production went up by 2.4 million tonnes, hay - by 20,000 tonnes, silage - by 56,700 tonnes.
In the livestock sector, gross output rose by 6.1%, mainly due to the production of milk (4.4 million tonnes; growth of 7% year-on-year) and eggs (1.8 million, growth of 15.3%).
Upon completion of harvesting works, the gross production growth rate will decrease and will be about 6% at the end of the year.
